Storms
Storms come only on winter?False storms occur every season of the year.A storm cloud can drop millions off gallons (tilers) of water in just one minute.Storm clouds always look dark?True from the ground, storm clouds look dark to us.Raindrops in a rainstorm are ten times bigger than raindrops in a light drizzle.A ring around the moon means a rainstorm is coming?True A ring around the moon signals the approach of stormy weather. As the old saying goes:when there's a ring around the moon, rain or snow's coming soon.Summer rainstorms in the tropics are called monsoons?True monsoons bring heavy rain to tropical lands at the same time every year.Summer monsoons end when the weather cools.Ice storms develop from rainstorms.True Ice storms occur as drops of rain freeze when they strike objects on earth. An ice storm can cover a 50-foot pine tree with as much as 5 tons (5.5 t)of ice.Sleet is frozen rain True sleet is frozen rain, or ice, that falls from high clouds.Sleet does not stick to trees or wires.Lightning only shoots from clouds to earth false lightning can shoot out in many directions.Lightning bolts light up the sky every second of every day.Tall trees and buildings attract lightning True lightning often strikes the tallest objects in its path.Lightning never strikes twice in the same place false lightning may hit the same place many times. The most dangerous place to be in a lightning storm is under a tree.Thunder always follows lightning True thunder is the result of the lightning shooting across the sky. When you see lightning and hear thunder at nearly the same time, the storm is very close.Snowflakes are white false snowflakes are colourless, like clear glass or ice.Every snowflake has six sides and each snowflake is different.A blizzard is a severe snow storm True.A blizzard is a violent snowstorm with heavy snowfall, low temperatures and strong winds. In a blizzard snow falls fast - about 2 inches (5 cm) and hour.Blizzards last only a short time False.Blizzards can last anywhere from three hours to several days. Many blizzards come after a period of warmer weather in winter.Hailstorms are winter storms.false most hailstorms in the united states occur during the spring, summer,or fall.Kansas has more hailstorms than any other state.hailstones are always small.false hailstones can be as small as peas or as big as grapefruit's.The largest hailstone fell in Kansas in 1970.Hurricanes form over warm seas True hurricanes start when warm, wet air rises up from the ocean.Hurricanes in the northern hemisphere move from east to west and curve toward the north.Hurricanes can cause floods True very strong hurricane winds often push ocean waters so high that they flood the land.Storm surges and floods are the most dangerous parts of hurricanes.Tornadoes for on the ground false tornadoes start in dark, heavy storm clouds.Tornadoes are called twisters because of the swirling winds. All tornadoes strike land false while most tornadoes do strike land, some never do.Tornadoes happen on every continent on earth except Antarctica.Tornadoes can pull up trees true the violent, twisting winds of a tornado often uproot trees and knock them over.About 800 tornadoes occur every year in the united states.dust storms are like small tornadoes false dust storms look a little like tornadoes, but they are actually whirlwinds and not as dangerous.A dust storm's wall of dirt can reach as high as a twenty-story building.Storm chasers only track storms from the ground false storm chasers work on the ground, but also go up in planes to track a storm.Early warnings have reduced the number of deaths caused by storms.

WOW!! Glenbrae School went to Tamaki College to watch Duffy do amazing shows But this one was called the best book in the world.I was amazed because it was the best book in the world but not with duffies little brother sruffy interupting. When duffy is reading the book scruffy always interupes because he wants to play rugby with him but duffy was always reading the book.A mean boy at school read the book in space and he read the book as much as he could read it.Scruffy ended up reading the book with duffy and he was amazed of what he saw because he liked it very much.

Kiwis vs Kangaroos
OHHH! The Kiwis lost but it was only the test.Lucky it was just the test because if it was the real one I would be so angry because our own country lost to Australia. They lost there game 19 to 10.I just hope they win the real game and then they can prove that they are winners for New Zealand.

A dog eating cabbage.
LI:I am learning to read a news article and rewrite it in my own words.
Wow! have you seen what dogs can eat. Some dogs will do anything for a juicy piece of steak but some dogs can eat cabbage. This dog is healthier than many other dogs and apparently the dog eats cabbage a lot.Whenever the dog sees cabbage it tries to steal it and eat it alone.

Blogging and Breakfasts
I have been learning about writing good blog comments. We have been using helpful words on our comments and making sure our punctuation and spelling is correct. Our teacher had to check our comments to see if we managed to write a good comment or not. Like when I posted on Tamaki Intermediate's blog when they were having a breakfast I made a helpful comment to made them feel happy. I made a connection by sharing what I know about good breakfasts.
We have been sharing our learning with schools in Manaiakalani. We have tried to make a connection with our comments. I like it when I put thoughtful comments on blog posts because it makes a person feel proud of their learning. I really like doing good blog comments because if I do a good blog comment they will write something good that I have done on my blog. It helps me to learn more ideas than I had before.
Here is my comment from Tamaki Intermediate's blog.

Constable Julie's lesson
Today Room 7 had a lesson with Constable Julie and she had taught Room 7 all about the distance a car has to stop so it can't hit a person. Constable Julie got to hold up cards that measured out every 10 metres.
We had to estimate how many metres a car would need to stop at different speeds.
I learnt how you have to have your licence and registration and make sure the car had everything it needed to be safe before it goes on the road.I learnt that the faster the car goes the more metres it needs to stop.

Austin's Holiday
It was fun to be back at Glenbrae school. We didn't have to go to another school because we had a vote and we are having year 7 and year 8.
In the holidays I went to Mt Smart Stadium to do athletics for Eastern and Harrier Club and I came third place in the 2000 metre race. We had to go around the track 5 times because 1 lap was 400 meters.
