MOTAT Recount
We went to MOTAT to learn about Mechanisms and simple machines.
At MOTAT we first Looked at the pump house or the Engine house that was built in 1877.The pump house has three levels, the basement, the ground floor and the gallery. The pump house is supported by cast iron columns and brackets..The exterior walls of red brick with cornerstones of basalt.
Then we went to the area where the Massey Ferguson tractor was used by Sir Edmund Hillary in the antarctic oceans. There were three of the tractors that travelled but one of the tractors fell into the ocean. The other two tractors pulled the other tractor that was in the water out of the ocean. That happened a few of times.
Next the group went to see the food cars that the people in the olden days used to buy their food from.We also saw fire engines that were used in the olden days to put out fires. Then we walked to the mirror maze and it was pretty easy to find our way out of the mirror maze. But then a couple of friends and I stayed in the mirror maze for a little while to explore and have more fun.You could see heaps of your self in the mirrors because there were a lot of mirrors surrounding you.
After that It was our lesson about simple machines, like a pulley or a lever.I learnt that a pair of pliers or side cutters were a lever too.I also learnt that without an axle the wheel would not hold in place. Then I built a car that had wheels with axles and had no body. But it held in place and didn’t fall. Then I had to take it to bits and put the parts I used to build my own car.
Then I headed off to the military base. There were huge trucks and a jeep. The trucks were really huge. There were other vehicles that were used in the world wars like the AA gun and a tank with no missile.
It was an amazing trip at MOTAT because there are so many rich experiences that I learnt.I so want to learn much more about mechanisms and simple machines.MOTAT is the best, to learn about engines and machines because they have old transport that was used in the olden days.I want to go back to MOTAT again to more about mechanisms and machines
